Plastering Tips: The Benefits of Using a 4-Coat System Instead of a 3-Coat System

The 3-coat system is standard for Australian plastering, but we know the benefits of using a 4-coat system, so that’s what we choose. You might be asking, ‘Why? Does it even matter?’ Well, throughout our time in the plastering industry, we’ve noticed a thing or two about Australian plastering standards and how they sometimes don’t actually give The BEST results. Here’s why we think using a 4-coat system instead of a 3-coat system is the way to go…

We’re all about exceeding expectations

Sure, we could stick to the status quo and churn out decent results with a 3-coat system. But where’s the fun in that? We aim higher, reaching for the stars (or at least the ceiling) to deliver results that leave our clients speechless. With that extra coat, we’re not just meeting standards; we’re blowing them out of the water.

Reduce the risk of air bubbles and pinhole shrinkage

One of the biggest perks of slapping on that fourth coat is the extra layer of protection it provides. Say goodbye to air bubbles and pinhole shrinkage—those pesky little annoyances that can turn a smooth finish into a lumpy, bumpy mess. With an extra coat in place, our finishes are flawless!

Create a smoother, more durable surface

You know that feeling when you run your hand along a wall and it’s as smooth as silk? That’s another one of the benefits of using a 4-coat system. Not only does it make for a more durable finish, but it also gives your walls that incredible ‘touchability’ factor. Whether you’re admiring our plastering handiwork or giving your guests a tour of your newly plastered space, you can rest assured knowing that every surface is as sleek and long-lasting as can be.

As you can see, there are plenty of benefits of using 4-coat system instead of a 3-coat system for plastering. Though the Aussie standards suggest a 3-coat system, we simply can’t justify working that way when a 4-coat finish does a much better job in so many different ways. It’s not just about following the rules; it’s about pushing boundaries, raising the bar, and creating plastering masterpieces that stand the test of time.
